<persname>Grasman</persname>: Tho' it cost me much to come to
a resolution, having settled it in my mind to
remain single: yet it became clear to me, that
this was the way, by which our Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. meant
to bring me to the B<hi rend="superscript">r<hi rend="underline">ns</hi></hi> Cong<hi rend="superscript">n</hi>., and my Parents
having given their consent, we were join'd in
holy matrimony <date>Aug</date><hi rend="superscript"><date>t</date></hi><date>. 2</date><hi rend="superscript"><date>d</date></hi><date>. 1748</date>, & set off soon after
for <placename>Helgeland</placename>. We covenanted together to live alone
for our Savior, & felt his sweet nearness in so rich
a measure, <emotion>that heart & eyes often overflowed
with shame and gratitude</emotion>. <date>Aug</date><hi rend="superscript"><date>t</date></hi><date>. 3</date><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><date>d</date></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi><date> 1749</date> our
Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. gave us a Son, whom we dedicated to him
as his property from his birth: he departed
this life in the year <date>1766</date> in a very happy man
-ner, following my Step Daughter, who in <date>1757</date>
had gone happily to our Savior. In the beginning
of <date>1750</date> my dear Husband requested his dis-
-mission; but met with many difficulties; at
that time the B<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">rn</hi></hi> were much despised in <placename>Den
-monte</placename>, and whoever went to the Cong<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">n</hi></hi>, was
obliged to leave all his property behind. In order
to keep him in the Country, Government offered
him any office he should <sic>chuse</sic>  <corr>choose</corr>. After refusing
every offer, he at length obtained his dismission
