was <persname>Anna Tomson</persname>; <emotion>both of them feared God</emotion>, &
endeavor'd to educate their Child<hi rend="superscript">n</hi> in the fear of
the Lord, and to preserve them from Sin. In my
4<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">th</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi> year my dear Father departed this Life,
Shortly before his end, he called his 8 Child<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">n</hi></hi>
to his sickbed, gave them his paternal bless-
-ing, and recommended me the youngest to the
Lord Jesus with particular energy. This is the
only circumstance, by which I can remember
my Father, and it has always remained im
-pressed on my mind, <emotion>The promise, that God
would be a Father to the Fatherless, was a great
comfort to me</emotion>, and I begged him earnestly to let
me be and remain his Child, Three y<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">rs</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi> after
my Mother married again.

of the first prayers & hymns, which I learn
for instance, The Saviors blood & righteousness
to let me feel something of the efficacy of his
