I was then called away suddenly, & set out for my
native country. Several B<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">rn</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi> accompanied me as 
far as the next town. I arrived, after a pleasant
journey with some German B<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">rn</hi></hi> & several of other
nations in <placename>Holland</placename>; went there on board, and
after having been 3 days at sea, arrived in <placename>Harwich</placename>.
We proceeded immediately to <placename>London</placename>, and there I 
lived in the house of the disciple. During my stay
here, I partly assisted in preaching, partly in
translating the Cong<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">n</hi></hi> Accounts; and also took a 
journey to visit my aged mother & other relations
in the country.<gap></gap>In the year <date>1740</date> two earthquakes
happening in <placename>London</placename>, <emotion>I was preserved from needless
fear & anxiety by the grace of our Lord</emotion>. ---
My future call requiring a change of my situa
-tion, I was married in the Year <date>1750</date> to the <persname>S</persname><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><persname>le</persname></hi></hi><persname>
S</persname><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><persname>r</persname></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi><persname> June Chambers</persname>. We then moved together to
<placename>Northampton</placename>, where we <sic>staid</sic>  <corr>stayed</corr> some years. I preached
both in town & Country the gospel, and having 
collected some of my Sermons, I went to <placename>London</placename>,
and delivered the original of them to the Brethren
there. They were afterwards published in the year
<date>1770</date>. <date>Sept</date><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><date>r</date></hi></hi><date> 3</date><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><date>d</date></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi><date> 1752</date> my wife <emotion>was happily delivered</emotion>
of a daughter, which rec<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">d</hi></hi> the name of <persname>Mary</persname> in holy
baptism, but was taken home by the Lord some
hours after her birth. <emotion>In my distress</emotion> I said to 
my d<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi> Sav<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></hi> Thou hast given her & thou hast 
taken her hence, blessed be thy name. Thy will
be done. and thus <emotion>resigned to his will I felt
comforted & happy. </emotion>
