<persname>Frances Sophia Tranaker</persname> was born at <placename>Westhofen</placename>
in <placename>Alsatia</placename> <date>Sept<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> 25<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> 1727</date>. Her Father <persname>Councellor
Engelbach</persname>, who together with his wife loved our Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>
& his people, were much concerned for the true happiness
& preservation of their Children, for which reason they
desired & also obtained a marr<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> B<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> & S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> from the Cong<hi rend="superscript">n</hi>
to live with them, in order to take care of their children.
The awakening of our departed S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> was occasioned by her
Father, who once late at night kneeled down before a Chair
in the room where she lay, thinking she was asleep,
& prayed heartily to our Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> for himself & his family,
& concluded his prayer with singing some Verses.
This affected her very deeply, & she wept & prayed
our Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> to have mercy on her & to receive her as his
Child. In <date>1740</date> she was sent by her parents, accor=
=ding to her own desire, to the Girls Oeconomy in
<placename>Marienborn</placename>, where she arrived <date>July 26<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></date> & in <date>Oct</date><hi rend="superscript"><date>r</date></hi>

often called to mind as a very particular blessing to
her, & the <date>13</date><hi rend="superscript"><date>th</date></hi><date> May 1741</date> she was admitted to the holy
communion. After that time she became more &
more sensible of her deep depravity, which cost her
much distress & many tears: but our dear Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> ma=

Cross as the Atoner for her Sins, she was richly
comforted, & became very <sic>chearful</sic>  <corr>cheerful</corr>. Sometime after
she was made use of as an assistant in the labour
among the great girls in <placename>Herrnhaag</placename> & was after<hi rend="superscript">ds</hi>
sent to <placename>Holland</placename> to serve in the Girls Oeconomy in
<placename>Herrndyke</placename> & <date>1750</date> she was called to go to <placename>England</placename>
& was used in the Girls Oeconomy then in Mile end
near <placename>London</placename>, from whence she was taken into the
family of the late ordinary in Lindsey house, where
she remained 2 years, & had (as she has often men-
-tioned) such a blessed time for her heart, as remained
unforgotten by her. In <date>1755</date> she was sent to <placename>Fulneck</placename>
