who determined to adhere to our Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> & his atonement, resolved to pur-
chase a piece of Ground & build a Church for themselves, where they
could hear the Gospel in peace, which they also soon accomplished.
My late Husband consecrated it, and preached in it about a
Year, & then gave the whole work into the B<hi rend="superscript">rn's</hi> hands, and we
removed to <placename>Bethlehem</placename>. <date>May 20 1748</date>, we were received into the
Cong<hi rend="superscript">n</hi> & were made partakers of the H. Communion the <date>13 August</date>
the same Year. In <date>1749</date> we were accepted Aeoluths[?] and <date>Aug</date><hi rend="superscript"><date>st</date></hi><date>
22 1750</date> we left <placename>Bethlehem</placename>, pursuant to a Call we had recei-
ved from <persname>Count Linzendorff</persname> to come to him to <placename>London</placename>. We were
detained on our voyage by a violent Storm. <persname>Capt Garrison </persname>who had
been upon Deck two nights, and almost two days, came into the
cabin, threw himself upon the Bed, and said: "Now our Saviour
must be Captain and all for I can do more." My Husband with
B<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persname>Nathanael Seidel</persname> and <persname>David Lisberger</persname> came to my Bed
side, where I lay very sick, and asked me whether I was ready to
go to our dear Saviour, for they thought we should all soon be
with him. I answered, yes I am ready, but I do not believe our
Sav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> has brought us here that we should finish in the Sea.
While we thus communed together, the Ship enacked[?] as if broken
to pieces, immediately after which the Mate, who was on Deck, call-
ed our to us "Now the Lord be praised, the Masts are all broke, &
I hope we shall be saved. The Ship now felt on one side as if
going to the bottom. The Capt<hi rend="superscript">n</hi> rose up hastily from his bed
& went upon deck; they cast away all the Masts & regging, so
that the Ship righted[?] again, & we then lay at the Mercy of a
raging Sea. Two days after a Ship from Shull restoon[???] us, the
Capt<hi rend="superscript">n</hi> of which offered to take us all on board, for he said, he fear-
ed we should never reach <placename>England</placename> in our Shattered Vessel. But
<persname>Capt</persname><hi rend="superscript"><persname>n</persname></hi><persname> Garrison</persname> chose to continue on his own Ship, & our confidence
