endeavor'd to educate their Childn in the fear of
the Lord, and to preserve them from Sin. In my
4th year my dear Father departed this Life,
Shortly before his end, he called his 8 Childn
to his sickbed, gave them his paternal bless-
-ing, and recommended me the youngest to the
Lord Jesus with particular energy. This is the
only circumstance, by which I can remember
my Father, and it has always remained im
-pressed on my mind, The promise, that God
would be a Father to the Fatherless, was a great
comfort to me, and I begged him earnestly to let
me be and remain his Child, Three yrs after
my Mother married again.
Already in my tender infancy I felt
drawings of my Saviors love, who made use
of the first prayers & hymns, which I learn
for instance, The Saviors blood & righteousness
to let me feel something of the efficacy of his
precious blood: my heart grew tender, whenever
I heard or read the history of Jesus' suffering
and I rejoiced with a childlike joy at the
approach of Chistmas & the Passion season
