even Death could not impair! - About the same time, a great
awakening took place in London among many others, one
of whom was our dr Br Hutton: the Lord drew us all to-
-gether in a wonderful manner, but our course was very
legal. I greatly impaired my constitution by the most vigo-
-rous fasting; allowing myself but very little sleep on the ground
without a bed. I drew near unto the grave, When our gracious
Lord who, as a Father pitieth his children, brought to us
a blessed Messenger, one of a thousand, viz. dr Br Peter
Boeohler
on his way to America. He could not fully express
himself, knowing but little of the English speech: however
his precious words of salvation by faith fastened in my
heart; and I felt more than I understood, and was over-
-joyed beyond expression.
From this time, I had great
pleasure in reading ye Scriptures, which appeared to me as
if I had never read them before. I saw clearly that
we cannot be justified by the works of ye Law, but by
Grace thro' faith in ye Redeemer: but my self-righteous-
-ness did not quit its Lord, I remained ignorant of the
deep depravity of my heart.
Some time after we had
dr. Br Molther & other Brn from Germany. The holy
Spirit now discovered to me my unbelief, pride en-

Register.
