Course of life of one happily departed Sister
Susanne Clagett. as written by herself. -

O whence was I brought!
From darkness was sought!
And led to that kingdom, which Christ's Blood hath bought.
I was born in London. In my early childhood
I was in deep distress, which I kept entirely to myself
having no spiritual guide. This nation was at that time
overspread with gross darkness. I wanted to be with some
the in eternal union, but supposing that to be unattainable
I thought myself the most forlorn creature that could exist
& must go quite alone without a friend into the unknown
regions. I well knew that all connextion  connection between relations
on earth, must be cut in sunder by death. It was an
indissoluble Union which I wanted; & thus wishing for
what appeared to be an impossibility, I was overwhelmed
with sorrow & deep melancholy.
Could I have known
that a human creature could be so connected with our Saviour
as to be one with Him, I should have been delighted; but being
blind & ignorant of those things which make for our peace, I
was tortured day & night with the fear of death.
If I neglect
my prayer before I went to bed, I was in an agony. I could
not associate with other Children, my misery rendering me

Register.
