of thy my adorable Master, who did not
permit me to sink, but gave me strength
according to the day & did not disappoint
my prayers for courage & resolution to
oppose that spirit which would hinder
the views of my dr Lord. Having purged
his floor, Christ & his Spirit bore the sway,
& we could yet feel that God was nigh with
us to bless us. Willingly did we give all
the glory to him. In 1796 I was ordained
a Presbyter of the Brns Church by Br
Liebisch
who then held a blessed visitation
in the Congn at Bath, & greatly encou-
raged us in our work. During this
period of comfort & prosperity, I receiv-
ed quite unexpectedly a call to go to the
Island of Tobago, to have the direction of
that Mission, & together with my wife
to assist in the labour among the Negroes.
Much as this proposal took us by surprise,
neither of us having had a particular im-
pulse for that part of the service, it
required due consideration, and I prayed
our Savior to divert my mind from every
other consideration but this, - Lord is it

Register.
