lived 4 years. This place seemed to agree
better with my husband's health, & he was
for a considerable time <emotion>very lively & ac-
tive.</emotion> He often remarked it as a particu-
lar favor that he was called to officiate
at the same spot where he had been first
dedicated to the Lord in holy baptism.
In <date>Dec</date><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><date>r</date></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi><date> 1810</date> he was again seized with a
severe illness arising chiefly from severe
spasms on the breast, which obliged him to
resign his office, in consequence of which
we removed to <placename>Bedford</placename>, where we arrived
<date>July 30</date><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><date>th</date></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi> last year. To this narrative we
have still to add the following. The ac-
tivity, zeal, & devotedness of our late B<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></hi>
in serving the cause of Christ in the <orgname>B</orgname><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><orgname>rn</orgname></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"><orgname>s</orgname></hi><orgname>
Cong</orgname><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript"><orgname>n</orgname></hi></hi><hi rend="superscript"></hi> are well known to most of our
English Cong<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">n</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript">s</hi> & we have to thank our Lord
Head & Savior, that he has for so many
years set him for a blessing on that
happy flock, <emotion>to whose covenant he was
most sincerely & strongly attached.</emotion> As his
spirit was still lively, <emotion>it was a painful
denial to him to be no longer able to sound
the praises of his redeemer in public;</emotion> he
however spent a happy & useful time of
rest among us, employing his time in
profitable conversation, & correspondence
with many spiritual friends, & in peace-
